霞美社区处在北峰街道的西北侧，东面与群峰社区相接，北边连着肖厝社区，西面与南安市丰州镇交界，2003年4月成立。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

此地旧称下尾，因地处街道末端、与南安相邻，后改用雅称霞美。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，此地属南安县十三都。新中国成立初，它归南安县丰州镇的西华乡管辖，后又改属西贤乡。1958年，北峰人民公社设立霞美大队。[2]

1984年此地属北峰乡霞美村，2003年村改为社区。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办确认社区为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[2]
