庄任社区位于街道东部，东面以安吉路为界，北靠洛江科技园，沈海高速公路穿村而过。[1][2]社区辖区面积约3平方千米，原为庄任村。[1][3]

地名由来[edit]

北宋宣和年间，庄氏在浔阳江畔定居，取村名“庄浔”。[2][4]明万历年间，莆田林氏迁入，此后音近演变为“庄任”。[2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地为三十八都福临埔，民国时期归东洛镇；1950年隶晋江县第四、第三区，1956年属群生乡。[2]1958年成为东海公社庄任大队，1961年划归城东公社，1984年称城东乡庄任村。[2]2003年2月城东镇改为街道后，设庄任社区。[2]历代先民曾数次在半岛两侧围海造田，开出数千亩田地。[2]

地理环境[edit]

社区自北向南伸入海中，形如半月弧，古人称之为“锦蛇冲浪”。[2]社区南面与海峡体育中心的场馆群相邻，离泉州火车站约2公里。[4]

人口与社会[edit]

据2025年12月丰泽区人民政府公布的情况，社区常住居民8964人，六十岁以上的老人有634位，低保和特困户9户，残疾人32人。[1]社区党委下设3个党支部，有党员124名；辖内的学校和幼儿园有海滨实验小学与海城实验幼儿园。[1]
