沉洲社区隶属泉秀街道，地处中心市区东南部，东侧与东海街道法石社区交界。该社区2002年6月设立，辖区内有住宅区，也有市直机关单位和中级人民法院。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

旧时此地是晋江下游的一座小岛，形状远看像浮在江面的半月，因而被叫作半月沉江；明末清初聚居成村，称沉洲村。[2]

宋时此地属晋江乡的登瀛里，名为瀛洲。元明清三朝归晋江县三十五都的法江铺恬洲乡管辖，因多次被江水淹没，“恬”字与“沉”字读音相近，遂改称沉洲。[2]

民国期间，这里隶属晋江法石乡的西南保，称沉洲村。1951年，县与市分开管理，此地转入泉州市东海乡。[2]

党支部于2002年6月成立，2018年6月升格为社区党委，下辖3个党支部。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办授予社区「2021年福建省卫生社区」称号。[2]
