刺桐社区是开元街道下辖的社区，位于鲤城区北隅，北侧以305省道与丰泽区相接。[2]社区以泉州的古称刺桐为名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

中华人民共和国成立初期设梅石街，境内的梅花石是其得名之由。1949年秋成立梅石居委会，初称梅石庄；1951年与梅山街合为红梅街。1980年复组时改回梅石街居委会之名。[1]刺桐居委会成立于1994年。2002年4月，刺桐、梅石、希夷三个居委会结合为刺桐社区。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年2月，刺桐社区上榜「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

一峰书院在辖区内，原为净真庙，明嘉靖八年（1529年）由巡按御史聂豹和福建提学副使郭持平等人改建而成，用来纪念明成化二年（1466年）状元罗伦（号一峰）。[2]
