和平社区位于鲤城区中部，东侧以南俊路与东华社区相接，西侧隔中山中路与通政社区相望，南面以承天巷与海清社区分界，北面临东街。[1][2]

社区里的古民居与宗教建筑不少，黄宗汉故居位于其中；泉南教堂与元妙观也在这里，另有一段被列为泉州十八景之一的状元街。[1][3][5]

名胜古迹[edit]

黄宗汉故居位于中山中路镇抚巷内，该宅是黄宗汉的府第，他在咸丰年间（1851～1861年）任两广总督，并兼通商大臣。主体为两幢三进深的住房，另有护厝、书房与花园，现为福建省级文物保护单位。[4]

状元街在东街后街，据百度百科，全长约500米，为一条红砖墙风格的步行街，沿街有仿古牌坊和浮雕，24小时对外开放。[5]
