社区位于鲤城区老城中部，属鲤中街道管辖。东起井亭巷和旧馆驿，西至甲第巷，南起许厝埕和新路埕，北至西街。[1][2]

社区名称来自中华人民共和国成立前，境内一所由进步人士创办的“新峰”小学。辖区内有南外宗正司遗址、铁炉庙等文物，其中南外宗正司遗址为省级文物保护单位。[1][3][5]

历史沿革[edit]

旧时此地归文锦、玉关二保管辖。建国后先以新峰街为居委会名称，1956年正式设立新峰街居民委员会。人民公社时期曾称新峰大队，其后复为新峰街。[2]

“文化大革命”期间社区一度更名为红光街，1980年恢复为新峰街。社区居委会驻地设在三朝巷19号。社区由原新峰、新榕两个居委会整合重组而成。[2][4]

名胜古迹[edit]

据鲤城区人民政府网站社区简介，辖区内共有4处文物点，杨滨海故居即其中之一；市级文物保护单位有旧馆驿古街巷与铁炉庙，省级文物保护单位则为南外宗正司遗址。泉州市市、县级文物名录也收有《铁炉庙记》碑。[1][6]

据百度百科，铁炉庙原在泉州城西的龙头山下。1958年，因原址办起了面粉厂，庙宇被挪到象峰巷，庙廊西壁嵌有《铁炉庙记》碑。[7]
