大科畲族村位于洪田镇西南部，与永安市小陶镇毗邻，距镇政府14公里。[1] 村中辖半岭畲族自然村，以及大科、大乾、黄焦等村民小组。[1] 村部约在海拔350多米处，半岭自然村海拔逾550米，博雅地名网称全村是典型的高山村。[1]

旧时此地归二十九都管辖，民国时隶属古马乡。[2]
