水东村紧靠文川溪，在永安市西南部，离市区31公里。205国道与永武高速公路穿村而过。[1] 村名因以文川溪为界、辖区整体位于溪东而得名。[2] 村子始建于明朝。[3] 村中的水东红军驻地旧址（慎德堂）位于水东村125号，博雅地名网列为一般不可移动文物。[4]
