洪田村位于文川溪畔，是洪田镇政府所在地。[1] 村名来自此地古时常被洪水淹没稻田的情形。[2] 1998年，村党支部与村两委在没有政策支持的情况下，动员各方力量自发推动集体林权制度改革，率先在全省完成“分山到户”，博雅地名网称其为「中国林改第一村」。[1]
