村名取自文川溪最先流经的地方，地势较高。[1]据博雅地名网，村落始建于宋代。[1]

文化[edit]

村中的竹马灯是正月举行的民间民俗活动，以手工制作的竹马配合民间乐器游行。相传始于宋代初年，至今已传24代，有600多年历史。[3]
