燕北街道是福建省三明市永安市下辖的街道，位于永安城区北部，辖有江滨、后溪洋、黄山、红山4个社区，以及西坑、西营、兴平、坂尾、益口、飞桥6个行政村。[1][6]

街道由2002年1月合并的燕北、兴平两个街道组成，合并后辖区面积约64.8平方千米；截至2011年末，户籍总人口为23891人。[2][3]

地名由来[edit]

街道因位于永安城区的北部而得名。永安的别称之一为「燕城」，街道名称由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明景泰三年（1452年）永安设县，城内设太平坊。[1][3]

民国时期这一带属城关，1935年为城关一区；此后经燕江镇、城关镇等名称与建制的变动，1984年改为燕江镇人民政府，1987年设燕江街道办事处。[1]

1989年12月，燕江街道分设出燕北街道；2002年1月，兴平街道并入，两街道合并后形成现在的辖区。[1][2][3]

地理环境[edit]

街道东面与上坪乡为邻，南与燕东、燕南两街道相接，西连曹远镇与大湖镇，北与贡川镇接壤。[3]

境内设有鹰厦铁路的西坑站和益口站，兴泉铁路亦设西坑站。[4]

桃源洞风景名胜区与坂尾村相邻，205国道穿过坂尾村。[8]

人口[edit]

2000年第五次全国人口普查的数据中，燕北街道的总人口为21861人。[5]

名胜古迹[edit]

街道的市级文物保护单位有三处：桃源洞摩崖石刻位于坂尾村205国道旁，列为1984年首批；修竹湾摩崖石刻位于坂尾村，列为2000年第二批；永安县改市纪念碑位于江滨社区西门桥旁的市标处，同列为1984年首批。[7]

莲花山公园、龟山公园、江滨公园与一座千年古塔，在博雅地名网与百度百科中都被列为本街道的景点。[2][3]

北洋水库景区据博雅地名网所载，是街道兴建开发的农业生态旅游地，与桃源洞景区相邻。[2]

荣誉称号[edit]

2004年10月，中央文明办与国家体育总局表彰本街道为「全国城市体育先进社区」；2006年6月，三明市委、市政府授予本街道「平安街道」荣誉称号。[2]
