燕东街道位于福建省西部的永安市城区东部，街道办事处驻东郊村。[1]

永安简称「燕城」，街道位于城区东部，因而称燕东街道。[4]

街道办事处负责统筹辖区村（居）建设规划，组织社会治理与公共服务。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1452年设立永安县时，县治先设在浮流村，此后这一带一直属于永安县。[1][4]

1955年起称城关镇，1984年8月为燕江镇，1987年12月燕江街道办事处成立，1989年12月燕东街道由其中分出。[4]

2023年，永安市辖4个街道，燕东街道为其中之一。[3]

地理环境[edit]

东面接上坪乡，南面接燕南街道，燕江中路为西界，燕江东路为北界，全部面积约11平方千米。[1][5]

气候属亚热带季风气候。[1]

人口[edit]

2000年第五次全国人口普查时，燕东街道人口为35642人。[9]

名胜古迹[edit]

新桥村李氏祖祠与三堂厝内设有新桥农民夜校旧址，为一般不可移动文物。[6]

忠义社区境内的文庙，又称永安市博物馆，馆内设永安抗战文化历史陈列馆，是三明市青少年爱国主义重点教育基地。[7]

新桥洋社区的唐田王庙、圆明寺和飞云殿，已列入市级保护寺院。[8]
