严田村位于客坊乡西南部，距乡政府约2.5公里，西面与客坊村相接，东面与张溪村为邻，南面与江西省广昌县接壤。博雅地名网记其地名由来为村子坐落在严峰山下、土地肥沃。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期村子属孝义乡的隆安保，明初属南区隆安保，解放前归新安乡的严田保。1950年设严田乡政府，之后改为乡人民委员会。1958年公社化时成为生产队，1968年后改为生产大队革命领导小组。[1]

2021年11月，村子被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2024年7月，村子又被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]

村中耕地2513亩，山村面积18600亩，山林植被覆盖面积83%。山林中有红豆杉、杉木、松木和毛竹等树种。[1]
