枫元村是溪口镇下辖的行政村，旧称助村，是乡村振兴示范村之一。[2]
福建省爱卫办于2021年11月把本村列为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2025年3月，本村被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」；2024年2月，本村被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。[1]
2023年2月，本村入选「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」名单；2020年12月，本村入选「2019年度福建省“一村一品”示范村」名单（水稻制种）。[1]

村内杂交水稻制种始于1976年，水稻制种是村里的主导产业。[2]
建宁县人民政府网站载，国家级高标准杂交水稻制种示范基地设在本村；村内还依托制种基地发展农旅融合，有稻田观光等业态。[2][3]
