本村是溪口镇下辖的行政村。村名的由来，据博雅地名网所载：此地溪边原多桐树，溪上架有桥屋，称为桐源桥。[1]
福建省爱卫办于2021年11月把本村列为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2024年7月，本村获「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」称号，并被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时划作东乡开山保，明初改隶东区，解放前是庆安乡的一个保。解放后归四区管辖，后又并入一区。[1]
1956年设乡人民委员会，1958年划入溪口公社并改称大队；1968年成立大队革命领导小组，1984年改为村委会；1995年9月，所在的溪口乡改设为溪口镇，本村随之隶属于镇。[1]
