新桥乡位于福建省三明市泰宁县西北部，北通江西省黎川县，东邻邵武，西毗建宁县，距县城24公里，乡政府驻新桥。乡境内的峨嵋峰是国家级自然保护区，水埠水库是全省海拔最高的中型水库。1931年6月，这里建立了红色政权；1934年3月，新桥反击战在此打响，是泰宁境内规模最大的一场战斗，大源村至今保留着革命旧址群。[1][5]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时，新桥一带属绥城乡清泰里。驻地原名漈口，又称安仁；清雍正二年（1724年）在街口建成新泰桥，地名因此改为新桥。[2][3]

民国时期，这里先后隶属北乡、五区、二区，之后设为安仁乡。1931年6月至1934年7月，新桥设有新桥区苏维埃政府，统辖11个乡苏维埃政府。[3]

1933年10月，红五军团第十三师在新桥成立，中革军委授予其“坚师”番号。1934年3月新桥反击战打响，红十三师师部设在大源村的戴氏官厅，该村成为战役的前沿阵地。[1][5]

解放后，1950年4月属第四区，1956年改称新桥区。1958年起这里称上游公社，1959年底它与红星公社并为朱口公社，1961年10月分出新桥公社，直至1984年9月才改设新桥乡。[3]

地理环境[edit]

峨嵋峰处于武夷山脉的中段，西南面为山麓，主峰海拔达1714米，在福建省内列第七高。2001年6月获福建省政府批复设为省级保护区，2016年5月升格为国家级自然保护区。[6]

水埠水库在乡境内，是全省海拔最高的中型水库，工程自1972年底开工，1978年底完工，库容总计1307万立方米。[1][7]

乡内气候属亚热带季风气候。[4]

荣誉方面，2012年12月，环境保护部把「2010—2011年度国家级生态乡镇」称号授予新桥乡。2024年1月，新桥乡被命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」；2023年10月，新桥乡入选「2023年福建省“全域生态旅游小镇”」名单。县政府网站另载有「福建省先进基层党组织」等荣誉。[1][2]

人口与经济[edit]

县政府网站的乡概况载，全乡辖区面积91.8平方公里，耕地1.188万亩，林地12.89万亩，森林覆盖率接近九成，辖2035户、8599人，未注明统计年份。[1] 第七次全国人口普查登记的2020年11月1日零时常住人口为3737人。[4] 博雅地名网记面积约105.5平方千米，百度百科记104.8平方千米，与县网站所载不同；面积以县网站为准，人口则取普查数字。[2][4]

农业以水稻、水果和毛竹为主。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

大源革命旧址群位于大源村，2018年列入福建省第九批省级文物保护单位，由戴氏官厅、戴氏宗祠、严氏宗祠和镇安桥组成。[5][9]

庆云寺建在峨嵋峰的弥勒山上，县政府网站称其为千年古寺，是台湾慈航大师（肉身菩萨）的祖庭。[1] 新桥庆云寺遗址属宋代遗存，列为县级文物保护单位。[8]

新桥反击战遗址位于新桥村北的瑶际蓬。[2] 窑排岭反围剿阻击战旧址在新桥村，建于1934年，属近现代遗存。[8]

西坊邓植将军墓是县级文物保护单位，年代为宋。[8] 墓名所称的邓植，字元功，河南南阳新野人，五代时镇守杉关有功，受封大将军，后定居西源。[10]
