陈元村位于下渠镇东部，距镇政府约6公里[1]。村名取自旧时在此开基定居的陈姓，村域内以山林为主[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

宋至元代，村域属崇礼乡高平里的永兴保；明清改属永兴上保，1911年至1931年一直属永兴上保，归南乡管辖。1931年6月至1934年7月划入大均区，1934年编入永南联保，1938年改入开永联保，都归三区管辖。1940年别设陈元保，归三区开永乡，次年转入一区开永乡，1943年又回到开永乡。解放后，1951年改归下渠乡，1956年划入弋口区，1958年成立大队，1962年划归下渠公社。1984年改设陈元村，2018年11月归属下渠镇[2]。

地理环境[edit]

村域耕地738亩，林地12375亩，土地总面积合计13113亩[1]。

文化[edit]

2024年7月，村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」[1]。
