龙湖村之名，以地理位置得名：村在龙湖溪上游一处平坦的谷地中，溪流蜿蜒如龙。[1]

龙湖福善王庙位于村南，据百度百科，始建于明代，清咸丰十年（1860年）重建，2025年12月31日入选福建省第十一批省级文物保护单位。[2]

龙湖童氏宅院同为福建省第十一批省级文物保护单位，据百度百科，始建于清嘉庆年间（1796至1820年）。[3]

村内规划的工业用地已列入省定县级工业园区。[1]

2021年11月，龙湖村被命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2022年10月，被认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；2024年7月，列入三明市六无达标村（2023年度）名录。[1]
