神下村在邵武、将乐与泰宁三县交界之处，位居朱口镇东北部。[1]

村名的来历，据博雅地名网所记，旧时村民曾奉一位姓夏的举人为神；「下」与「夏」相通，故称神下。[1]

2024年7月，神下村列入三明市六无达标村（2023年度）名录，同月列入三明市六无达标村（2021至2023年度）名录。[1]

1984年9月，神下大队改为神下村民委员会，村级建制延续至今。[2]
