擎布之名，据博雅地名网所记，旧时村中水车作业多，如纺车织布一般，方言「擎布」即织布之意。[1]

村庄紧邻朱口镇区，村里以烟叶、优质稻和水稻制种为骨干，高效农业是主要方向；外出务工人员较多。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，擎布属绥城乡乐城里朱口保。1931年至1934年苏维埃时期，此地由朱口区苏维埃政府管辖。1934年起归二区，1940年改属下东乡。1972年，擎布从朱口分出，设擎布生产大队，仍隶属朱口公社。[2]
