寨色之名中，「色」是本地方言音译，指里面的意思，寨色即二寨门以内的地方。[1]

村内的宝盖岩是岩洞型名胜，岩洞高大宽敞，名称来自其外形，远望如古代高官出行所用四驮车上的华盖。[2]

宝盖岩始建于绍兴八年（1138年），两重山门扼守要冲。前门建成于民国五年（1916年），1982年经过修复；后门为清乾隆五十七年（1792年）所建，匾额题有「烟霞洞」三字。[2]

2024年7月，寨色村列入三明市六无达标村（2023年度）名录。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

寨色原是石辋村的一个自然村。1977年划出，设寨色大队，归朱口公社管辖；1984年9月设立寨色村民委员会。[2]
