音山之名来自一段传说：泰宁县东的仙棺石在风雨昏暗时传出乐声，雨止后人见岩间有棺木，疑为仙人蜕骨，因称音山，又名圣石。[1]

村庄是全省「百村示范」村之一，近年先后被评为国家级生态村、省级信息化示范村等。[2]

2019年12月，音山村入选「第一批国家森林乡村」名单；2020年12月，被确定为「福建省第一批高级版绿盈乡村」；2021年2月，列入「福建省2018至2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2024年2月，被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，音山属崇礼乡高平里福山保。1931年至1934年苏维埃时期，此地设音山乡苏维埃政府，隶属朱口区。1958年，此处成为音山生产大队；1984年9月起设村民委员会，归朱口镇管辖。[1]
