民主村属杉城镇，位于泰宁县城区，与水南村相接于东南，与红卫村相接于西北。村名取自解放初把旧时一图街改名民主街一事，寓意人民当家作主。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期此地归绥城乡清泰里管辖，明洪武年间起直属县府。1934年划入一区，1940年属炉峰镇。[2]

1950年12月至1951年12月设民主街政府，隶属一区；1958年起称民主生产大队，归红旗公社管辖；1984年9月起设为村民委员会，归杉城镇。[2]

文物与古迹[edit]

岭上红一方面军驻地旧址位于卢家巷6号，即卢家巷邓家祖宅，博雅地名网称其为县级文物保护单位。[1]

2013年名录登记本村不可移动文物16处，其中有张家坊文塔遗址（明代），其余多为卢家巷、肖家巷和岭上街一带的民居与巷道，年代为明清。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2015年10月，村入选福建省第一批省级传统村落；2025年泰宁县公布的名录同样将民主村列为省级传统村落。[1][4]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予民主村「福建省卫生村」称号。2024年7月，村被确定为2021至2023年三明市达标「六无」村（社区）。[1]
