水东社区属杉城镇，位于和平南街与金湖东路之间。居委会于1996年4月挂牌，2003年4月改为社区居民委员会。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国初至1931年，此地属城区；1934年后归一区，1940年又属炉峰镇。[2]

1950年代初，县城区设有若干街（乡）政府；1958年这些政府改为生产大队，1984年9月改属杉城镇。1996年设立水东居委会，2003年改为水东社区居民委员会。[2]

辖区与荣誉[edit]

社区主要道路有金湖东路、台前路和和平南街，辖区设两个文明安全小区，驻社区单位20个，居民小组11个。[1]

社区获县级文明社区、县先进基层党组织等称号，又获第二批福建省「平安家庭」创建活动先进示范社区。[1]
