周厝村位于余坊乡南部，距乡政府约10公里，属革命老区村。[1]

村名的意思，是周姓人家在此聚居落户。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这里在清代已有村落，归张源都管辖。1931年至1934年间，村中建有周厝乡苏维埃政府。1935年划为隆兴保，1941年隶隆兴乡；至1950年解放前，实为隆兴乡下的马嘶保。[1]

1954年，村地成为第六区马嘶乡的一部分；1958年改归红旗公社。1961年，村中设周厝大队，归余坊公社。1984年9月撤去大队，改设周厝村民委员会，归余坊乡。[1]

文化[edit]

2024年7月，村子被命名为「2023年度三明市达标六无村（社区）」，同月被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标六无村（社区）」。[1]
