下井村是汤川乡政府所在地的村庄之一，位于尤溪县东部，平均海拔840米。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村中祠堂朝西，旁边有一口井，取霞光映井之意，初称霞井；后因「霞」与「下」谐音，改为下井。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期此地属二十都，民国时期称「三径坊」，仍属汤川乡。解放初还在汤川乡内，1958年组成下井大队，1984年改称下井村。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子夹在脚板溪与汤溪之间，位于戴云山脉北侧的山脚下，年平均气温16－18度。[2]

村子距省城138公里，距县城56公里。村中古井原有十余口，现存五口。[2]

人口与姓氏[edit]

村中蒋、洪、谢、黄等姓，蒋姓约占全村人口的95%左右。全村共10个村民小组，305户，1197人里有538名女性；劳动力800人，其中转移306人。博雅地名网所载，未注统计年份。[2]

土地17573亩，耕地1612亩，林地14068亩。[2]

民居与建筑[edit]

村中民居有民国、解放初与改革开放后三个时期的建筑，多为土木结构，当地称「八仙厝」。这些房屋布局成「臼」字形，侧门众多，部分还建有碉堡，便于防御。[2]

佛子坑亭建于清朝末年，横架在悬崖陡壁之间，亭内正厅供奉南海观音。[2]

自然与民俗[edit]

脚板溪瀑布是汤川的名景之一，春季梅雨时节水势尤盛。[2]

每年农历正月，村中各房轮流做灯头，组织「迎龙灯」。下井龙据称是全县最长的龙，头尾共一百零八节。[2]

经济[edit]

村中种植茭白、荷兰豆、蝴蝶豆等反季节蔬菜，还产毛木耳与花菇；茶叶有铁观音、绿茶和纯山茶，山林以杉树、松树与竹林为主。[2]

荣誉[edit]

该村于2024年1月被定为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

2021年12月，下井村获「2021年度福建省森林村庄」称号。[1]
