村中岩漈众多，原名「百漈」，后因书写时出现笔误，写成了白际。[1]
当地另有一种称呼「八个际」，与白际读音相近，因此也有人以此解释村名。[2]
地理环境[edit]
民居分散在上白际、下白际、吴宅和岐头四处自然村。全村有6个村民小组，土地14771亩，林地12709亩，耕地1218亩。[2]
境内河道长15.2公里，落差大，已建有三座梯级小型水电站。[2]
