香林村位于尤溪县东南部的山地之中，属汤川乡，村域以中高山为主。[2]

村名与山坡上的天然兰花有关，据一块残碑所载，清乾隆之前此地称上林。[1][2]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

早先这里是茂密的森林，出产兰花，香气浓郁，因而得名香林。[1]

综合村中的传说与旁证，村子的始建年代可推到唐末五代。最早的居民有陈、吴、罗、肖、李、宛六姓，他们后来多数迁回闽南，村中至今仍留有「闽南墓」一类地名。[2]

此后又有陈、黄、吴、马四姓先后迁入。赖姓于明嘉靖四十一年自德化迁来，池姓于清康熙二十五年自闽清迁来，黄、林等姓也在清代迁入。[2]

解放前夕，村中有人与地下党组织取得联系，并成立香湖游击队，因此该村被认定为尤溪县老区村。[2]

明清两朝，本村隶属尤溪县十九都。民国时的基层单位是香湖保，解放初期属香湖乡。1958年后并入群星公社，1959年才设香湖大队，1984年由香湖析出，独立为香林村并设村委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域地势西南高、东北低，村子海拔820米，最高的四角林仑约1100米。[2]

全村土地10748亩，其中林地9022亩，耕地1726亩。[1]

属中亚热带气候，年平均气温在15至20℃之间。[2]

人口与姓氏[edit]

村中以赖、池、黄、林四姓居多。博雅地名网载为290户，居民994人，劳动力664人，未注统计年份。[2]

荣誉[edit]

该村于2024年1月获「2023年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
