村子坐落在较大的平地上，因而得名大墘。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1984年改称大墘村，并设立村民委员会。此前，1960年从坂面大队析出，设大墘大队；20世纪50年代这里属坂面大队。[1]
大墘村原属尤溪二十八都。[1]
