相传古时此地设有马墟，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期属二都，民国时属纪溪保，解放初为纪洪乡；1958年设马坪大队，归管前公社管辖；1984年起称马坪村，村级组织为村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，本村获评「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]

2024年7月，本村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」，同月又被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]
