科竹村位于西滨镇西北部，村名取“竹溪”与“老科甲”两个自然村各一字[1]。全村总面积19564亩，辖4个自然村[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

村庄旧属尤溪十三都，原名竹溪[1]。1958年设科竹大队，1984年起改称科竹村，并设村民委员会[1]。

人口与教育[edit]

全村254户、904人，劳动力572人，居民有林、陈、吴、涂、符等姓氏[2]。清康熙初年，村中即开办书斋、学堂，科举时期出过进士4人、举人8人[2]。

名胜与古迹[edit]

村中名胜有瀑布潭、狮形顶、马鞍山、玉带石、沸鼎潭[2]。现存清代古民居两座，下厝即州司马故居，是省级文物定点保护单位[2]。第四次全国文物普查新登记的文物中，本村另有林氏长房厝、林氏宗祠，均记为清代[3]。
