东街社区位于尤溪县城关镇的镇中心区，在青印溪北岸。社区所在的街区原称建设东街。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国前与民国初，这一带隶属宣德街，街区内包括五个坊。民国末年分属城溪镇的中正保、宣化保与崇贤保。[1]

1950年初，东街与解放街各设一处人民政府，同年6月撤销解放街并入东街。1970年3月改名胜利街，1981年4月26日经福建三明地区行政公署批复，复名为建设东街。1992年起称东街居委会，2003年3月转为东街社区居委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区东以青印溪大桥为界，西至中心路，北至解放路。辖区面积约0.8平方千米。[1]
