地名由来[edit]
村名初称盂坪，因地势如盂而得名；方言中「盂」与「湖」同音，遂写作湖坪。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1955年，本地曾设湖坪乡，属大田第七区；次年起并入湖美区前坪乡的辖区。[1]
地理与气候[edit]
年平均气温17.3℃，无霜期263天，水利资源丰富。[2]
产业与设施[edit]
村民收入主要来自种养业和劳务输出。境内的矿产以褐铁矿、磁铁矿为主，已探明的矿种有铁矿、铅锌矿等10余种。[2]
村内有卫生所一个，并设有前坪变电站，为村内产业供电。[2]
