旺建村位于湖美乡东侧，距乡政府约8公里。[1]

村庄早先因地处山墘、王姓在此开基，称王墘，又称黄墘；后取人丁兴旺之意，改称旺建。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，村境属大田东区三十一都；民国时期属京仙乡。1950年2月划入大田第七区的一个乡，1958年属湖美公社并设旺建大队。[1]

1961年改属前坪公社旺建大队，1970年又属湖美公社，1984年改为湖美乡旺建村。[1]

文化[edit]

村内的攀桂堡，县政府页面称为旺建古堡（攀桂堡），博雅地名网载其为县级文物保护单位。[1][2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年10月，福建省农业农村厅将本村认定为「第二批省级乡村治理示范村镇」。[3]
