怀德村位于谢洋乡东部，属革命老区村，距乡政府约2公里，距大田县城约26公里。[1]

村子始建于清代，林氏子孙繁衍，村中至今保存石头竖立的孝郎政职牌。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历：先前此地为陈、杨两姓居住，后林姓迁入。林姓开基先祖以“德为先”为念，后大修庙宇以纪念祖德，故名怀德。[1]

村子早年属黄认团，民国时隶谢武乡；新中国成立后进入第八区，继而归均溪区。1958年转到武陵公社，1961年成为谢洋公社下的怀德大队。1984年改称谢洋乡怀德村村民委员会。[1]

传统村落[edit]

2017年8月，怀德村列入「福建省第二批省级传统村落」名录。乡政府网站也称该村为省级传统村落，并说村内举人与古民居资源丰富，耕读文化传统深厚。[1][3]

自然环境[edit]

村子四周有山峰环绕，村中心东西南北各有一座山峰。村水尾与祖房后山保留风景林和一片古树。[1]

村子海拔约800米，适宜种植茶叶。[2]
