民主村位于文江镇东南部，村域东面与梅山乡接壤，距大田县城约47公里。全村分上村、下村、盂坪3个自然村。[1]

据传此地先由徐姓人家开垦，原名徐村。其后吴姓等迁入，办起书馆，遂改称书村。上世纪五十年代组建人民公社时，因要团结多个姓氏，定名为民主。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年10月，民主村经福建省农业农村厅认定，列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]

2024年1月，该村获得「2023年福建省卫生村」称号；同年7月，先后被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」，并被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]
