中沙社区位于乡中心区。名称的来历与当地河沙有关：河沙中含有金沙，村落先称金沙，后来村落顺河向下游扩展成两个大村，以原金沙为中心的村改称中沙[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

今居委会可追溯到1956年，当时个体手工业户组成了联合社，另有合作小组。1968年，这套组织被撤销，居民迁往农村；1976年起居民重新回到社区。1989年9月，市政府批准成立中沙居民委员会[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2024年7月，中沙社区获得2023年度三明市达标「六无」村（社区）的称号，同月又列入2021至2023年三明市达标「六无」村（社区）名单[1]。
