马元亭村位于城郊镇东部，距宁化县城5公里，有10个自然村、12个村民小组。村名取自村旁大路边的一座亭子，此亭为马源村人所建，「源」与「元」读音相近。[1][4]
2012年，村里被列为全县两个「党务公开示范村」之一；2021年11月，马元亭村获福建省爱卫办授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明清时期属兴善里，民国时期隶属第一区城东镇的乌石保。建国初期曾属马元乡，1954年转属高堑乡，此后一度划入旧墩公社，设马元亭大队。1984年改设马元亭村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
村子交通便利，靠近高速公路互通口，物流、旅游与餐饮休闲服务有所发展。村中有黄精、金银花、厚朴、银杏等中药材基地，烤烟也是主要种植作物。[2]
2023年，马元亭（黄桃）被认定为「一村一品」示范村。[5]
名胜古迹[edit]
李山尾寺位于村中危家坑，距县城约8公里。该寺始建于明代，1957年重建，1966年被毁，1982年起重新募建，寺内有大雄宝殿、天王殿、观音堂等建筑。它是县内第二批登记发证的宗教活动场所。[3]
