廖武村位于清流县田源乡西部，东邻田源村，是清流县的革命老区村之一。村名在20世纪50年代由廖屋坪改为廖武，今名与清代村中出过的武科功名有关[1]。

地名由来[edit]

村址群山环抱，村口两条溪流汇合成一块平坦地带，过去叫坪上；廖姓渐多之后，又改称廖屋坪[1]。1950年代改称廖武，用来纪念清道光、咸丰年间村中考中武进士二人、武举人四人的科名[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

东汉末年，罗姓人在此定居；南宋时，廖姓一支自宁化寨迁来，此后廖姓在村中延续了三十代。清代中期，罗、童两姓先后迁走[1]。

新中国成立前此地属复兴乡的武威保，建国初称廖武乡。1958年设为廖武大队，1984年改为村制，设村民委员会[1]。

人口与村落[edit]

村中人口1950年为641人，2005年增至1507人。主村为廖屋坪，另有翁坊、将坑、巫家寨等自然村[2]。

红军标语[edit]

村内有一处红军标语，形成于抗日战争前，所在建筑为私有民宅[3]。

荣誉[edit]

2024年7月，廖武村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标六无村（社区）」[1]。
