雷西村在盖洋镇西南部，距镇区6公里，西面与本镇大坑村相邻，并与宁化县泉上镇交界[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
村名取自辖区内雷埂、西瓜墩两个自然村名的首字[1]。县政府网站称雷西为千年古村落[2]。明清两朝属归化县三都。1954年隶属盖洋区雷西乡，三元与明溪县于1956年合并；1983年设盖洋区雷西乡人民政府，1987年起改称盖洋镇雷西村民委员会，至今沿用[1]。
据当地老辈人说，唐朝时已有吴、黄、李姓村民在此定居，后来有雷姓人家迁来，至今约两百年。当地称本点为“雷涧”，因为四面环山、中间有溪涧缓缓流过[2]。
南宋末年，将乐南口温坊的汤姓人士汤万宝迁居雷涧，成为雷西汤姓的始祖，其后汤姓逐渐成为村中最大的姓氏[2]。族中建有祠堂七座，其中天如公祠保存完好[2]。
《民国·福建通志》记载，南宋景炎元年（1276年），杨淑妃在雷涧杨家一带隐居，元朝初年聚众反元，终被捕获，押往福州遇害[2]。
2021年11月，雷西村获得「2021年福建省卫生村」称号[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
村尾有一座石拱桥，小巧精致，桥边设有石凳和小屋供村民休息。村中至今立着清嘉庆三年贡生汤廷瑛所立的石旗杆，溪边还有一株近千年树龄的罗汉松[2]。
西瓜墩处原有一座廊桥，原名交际桥，人称红军桥。1930年初，毛泽东率红军经过雷西，在此造饭、付给村民银元，并在桥上写下标语。原木廊桥后因年久失修倒塌，村民集资改建为钢筋水泥廊桥[2]。
