常坪村在盖洋镇东部，东面与将乐县白莲乡相邻，距镇区22公里[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

村名的变化是这样的：早时此地为竹坪，竹林砍伐后填平，因地面宽阔狭长而称“长坪”；后来这里常有集市，做生意的人多，便改称“常坪”[1]。

清朝时属归化县柳杨里六都；1954年归盖洋区管辖，设常坪乡，三元与明溪县合并于1956年；1983年又设盖洋区常坪乡人民政府，1987年起称盖洋镇常坪村民委员会，至今沿用[1]。

2024年1月，常坪村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」[1]。2024年7月，常坪村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」，又被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」[1]。2025年11月，常坪村被确定为「福建省2025年度省级“一村一品”专业村」（蕉芋）[1]。
