城前村位于湖源乡北部，离乡政府约0.6公里。村名取自古时村庄所在的两座土堡：当地方言称土堡为「土城」，村子在土城之前，故名城前。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，本村属湖源乡的龙凤堡；新中国成立后划入洋溪区坂尾乡。1958年归洋溪人民公社湖源管理区，编为四大队；1961年改称湖四大队。1984年撤社改乡，恢复原名城前村村民委员会，沿用至今。[2]

人口民族[edit]

政府网站所载：全村435户，1917人，主要姓氏为陈姓；下辖洋板自然村，设12个村民小组。[1]

村内出产笋干、石灰石、黄花梨与茶叶。[1]

文化[edit]

2022年10月，经福建省农业农村厅确认，本村属于「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

湖源中央红军东方军旧址群中的张氏宗祠位于本村，是这一旧址群的一部分。[3]
