大基村位于南阳乡西南部，距乡政府约5千米，村名的来历有两种说法。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

唐代有林氏人迁来此地，在大洋面田一带开基建房，村名由此而来；另一种说法是此地田多地瘦，村民勤快，出门常带土箕挑肥，故称大基。[3][4]

1984年起，本村设为南阳乡大基村村民委员会。此前，1959年改称南阳公社大基大队，1958年隶属红专公社，1956年改属镇头区，1951年曾设四区大基乡。建国后先归二区，建国前属潮阳乡大基保，古属七都。[1]

2021年11月，省爱卫办认定本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]

2021年2月，本村列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
