中街村位于夏茂集镇，是镇政府所在集镇的行政村，村子靠近高速公路出口。[2]

地名与沿革[edit]

村名取自它在夏茂中山路中段的位置。新中国成立后这里叫夏茂中街，1958年随公社设立称中街大队；文革中改叫解放大队，1981年5月又恢复中街大队，1984年才设中街村村民委员会。[2][3]

人口与土地[edit]

2017年政府页列出：村内共16个村民小组，住户916户，人口3234人，姓氏以罗、张、林居多。全村土地7117.65亩，内有林地3299亩、耕地1951.19亩。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年2月，中街村被收入「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；同年11月，它获得「2021年福建省卫生村」的命名。[2]
