夏茂社区位于夏茂集镇，是夏茂镇政府所在地的居民社区，也是全镇唯一的社区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
社区原称下茂。据百度百科所载，相传隋代有胡姓郡守巡行至此，见当地土肥物茂，便取谐音改称夏茂。[3]
1973年先设居民大队，1984年起称居委会，2003年5月才改为社区居委会，名称延用至今。[2][3]
2021年11月，福建省爱卫办授予夏茂社区「2021年福建省卫生社区」的称号。[2]
居民与生计[edit]
2017年的政府页称，社区内编为10个村民小组，居民1663人，住在693户中。居民谋生多靠个体经营，即小吃、商贩、手工业与各类小企业。[1]
