曹元村位于沙县城东，辖曹元、留坑两个自然村，土地总面积6916亩，村民以魏、官二姓为主。[1]

村名因早年由曹姓开基建村而来。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1951年，村地属二区曹元乡，此后几经并改。1984年起隶属琅口乡，设曹元村委会；2003年，村改隶虬江街道。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

邓肃墓位于村内，为南宋古墓葬。墓主邓肃是南宋左正言，绍兴二年（1132年）安葬于此，墓碑刻文经清乾隆十五年（1750年）重修。[3]
