镇头村位于沙县区城东，辖茶林下、江路、镇头三个自然村，土地总面积4340亩，村民以林、姜、邱、冯等姓为主。[1]
村名的来历有两种说法：一说明正统年间，邓茂七起义军在八都桥头击败前来镇守的都督，此地因而称镇头；另一说是以地理位置得名。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1984年起，村属琅口乡镇头村村民委员会管辖；1993年改隶琅口镇；2003年归入虬江街道。[2]
文化[edit]
村内建有显密吉祥寺，为佛教养老院，收养沙县及外地的老人。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2024年7月，村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标六无村（社区）」。[2]
