西郊村位于凤岗街道城区西北部，距城市中心区约4公里，是革命老区村。村域面积约18.85平方千米，村内的自然村有山坪峡、岩头、峡仔、罗坑头、铺头、横坑等，共5个，分为7个村民小组。[1]

村名沿用旧地名。此地原为城区西部郊外的自然村落，后居民迁至西郊新村，地名未改。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明朝时此地属九都；民国时为西郊特编保，1951年划为一区一街管辖。[2]

茶叶与开发[edit]

村内茶叶生产历史较久，现有茶园近2000亩，大小茶厂7个，是凤岗境内茶叶产量最高的地方。[1]

金沙园作为省级经济开发区，2002年起规划建设，村子一部分土地纳入其规划范围。建设新家园时采用统代建模式，由村里统筹规划、建设、分配和管理。2011年，村庄被省住建厅评为省优秀住宅小区。[1]

森林覆盖率85.9%，有林地28535亩，毛竹林1265亩。耕地864亩，水田占97%。[1]

红军旧址[edit]

西郊横庵是红军东方军的司令部遗址，位于村部东面约500米处。1934年初，红军东方军进攻沙县城前，部队曾在这一带活动。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村庄被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[2]
