城北社区位于凤岗街道北部城区，在建国北路和长泰路以西、府北路和西山路以东，南面以鹰厦铁路为界。北面的边界是金沙路，社区面积1.5平方千米，于1990年3月组建。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1990年3月组建时，社区称府北居委会。1998年8月，府北居委会改称城北居委会。2000年，又改称城北社区居民委员会，沿用至今。[1][2]

社区居民姓氏共有136种，人口在百人以上的姓氏有26种，合计占社区总人口的77%。[1]

荣誉[edit]

社区的荣誉有省级民主法治示范区、省级文明社区等，并有全国综合减灾示范社区的称号。2022年12月，社区被命名为「2022年福建省卫生社区」。[1][2]
