埔头城村位于福建省三明市三元区西南部，东邻居阳村，北邻南坑村，距乡政府约7公里，是中村乡西南部的一个山区行政村。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村落地形像斧头，故取谐音「埔头」；「城」字取居住之意，合称埔头城。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村庄海拔693米，林木资源丰富，适合柑桔等果树种植，水果品质较好。百度百科记村域面积7.02平方公里。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

此地过去隶属沙县，1940年改属三元县居阳区公所。建国初期归三元县第三区公所管辖，人民公社时期划入中村公社，设埔头城大队。[1]

1983年此地设中村办事处下的埔头城村，1987年撤办事处建乡，村子改设村民委员会，名称一直沿用至今。[1][4]

村内胡厝洋的居民曾修筑一条通往三元县衙的石板路，据载长二十余华里，今存半公里左右的一段。[2]

荣誉方面，本村2024年1月获「2023年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
